Silvia Conforto is Associate Professor at the Department of Engineering, University Roma TRE. She received a MSc degree in Electronic Engineering from Sapienza University of Rome (1992), and a PhD in Bioengineering from University of Bologna (1999). In 2000 she won the prize Elsevier 2000 and in 2001 the prize “Riccardo Maceratini” for the best PhD thesis of the year in Bioengineering. Her main research interests concern signal and image processing in the biomedical field with special focus on surface electromyography, human movement analysis, motor control. Since 2004 she delivered a great effort in developing devices for sport performance assessment. In this field she is co-inventor of two patents. She teaches within the MSc in Bioengineering in Roma TRE University. She is in the board of the PhD Programme in Applied Electronics in the same university. She is involved in several international agreements for PhD students exchange. Since 2000 she worked in many research project founded by national (FIRB, PRIN) and international institutions (EU-FP7). She is author of more than 150 scientific papers, serves as editor and reviewer for many journals in the area of bioengineering. She is member of GNB, IEEE, EMBS.
