Alessandro Mengarelli received the Ph.D. degree in Information Engineering from Università Politecnica delle Marche in 2017, with a thesis entitled “Balance and Motor Control in Dynamic Tasks” under the supervision of Prof. Sandro Fioretti. From 2017 he is a PostDoc Research Fellow at the Department of Information Engineering (DII). He is a member of the IEEE, IEEE EMBS, IEEE CTSoc, IEEE RAS, IEEE SMCS, Gruppo Nazionale di Bioingegneria (GNB) and a junior fellow of the Interuniversity Centre of Bioengineering of the Human Neuromusculoskeletal System (IUC BOHNES). He authored/coauthored more than 60 scientific papers in peer-reviewed international conferences and journals and served as a reviewer and Guest-Editor for international peer-reviewed journals. He also served as a member of the technical program committee for international conferences. His main research interests are biomechanics of movement, balance analysis, EMG signal processing, non-linear timeseries analysis, upper-limb motion recognition, and myoelectric human-machine interfaces.
