
Mounir Zok
United States Olympic Committee, Senior Sports Technologist
At the University of Rome “Foro Italico” from 2005 to 2009 as post-doc fellow
After obtaining his PhD in Biomedical Engineering in 2003 from the University of Bologna (Italy) under the leadership of Aurelio Cappozzo and Ugo Della Croce, Mounir spent a couple of years working at the University of Virginia (USA) and the Santa Lucia Foundation (Italy). In 2005, he begins his PostDoc activities at the University of Rome “Foro Italico” Cappozzo and matures experience using wearable inertial sensors and human analysis methodology. In 2008, he and his colleagues create a start-up company which developed inertial sensor-based solutions for the sports market. Mounir acted as Technical Director leading the internal development team and acting as an interface with the market.
In 2012, Mounir was appointed by the United States Olympic Committee as their Senior Sports Technologist, his present appointment. Thanks to his scientific and entrepreneurial skills, he addresses sports technology and high-performance related needs of coaches and athletes of Team USA, leads and manages sports technology and innovation projects, and shapes the future of sports technology utilization by Olympic and Paralympic sports through innovative ideas and partnerships.
