ph.d program – candidate selection

Candidate selection

To be enrolled in either doctorate programs involved in this project, the candidates must first satisfy the entrance requirements for admission to a doctoral program considered as third cycle within the European Higher Education and Research Area (model 3+2+3 which is parallel to the American pattern BA/MA/PhD). In addition, they are selected through an open meritocratic competition the rules of which are set in the relevant calls of the two universities.

The selection of the candidates admitted to this MOY labelled Program is jointly carried out by the above-mentioned institutional project responsible persons from those of the students enrolled in the two local doctoral programs (Lyon 1 and Bologna consortium) who apply for it.

Admission to this MOY labelled Program is granted to the applicant under the following circumstances: he/she

  • has a solid background in either human biology and/or engineering, reported on the basis of the transcript of records and other documentation of previous training;
  • has demonstrated advanced knowledge of English (relevant standards, higher than the ones required for admission to the doctorate programs at large, are to be set),
  • has submitted a research project accompanied with the description of multinational collaborations, involving both the Home and Host university at a minimum, funding status and timetable (e.g. Gantt chart);
  • has submitted a letter of motivation stating why he/she would like to study topics related to the human neuromusculoskeletal system, why do so in this MOY labelled international Program, to be prepared for international mobility, and why he/she is a good candidate for this Program.

A cotutelle agreement must be signed by the candidate’s Home and Host Institutions soon after the candidate is admitted.
